Can You Call To Mind Your First Motorcycle?

Written by author on Tuesday, February 24th, 2009 in Motorcycle Review.

Do you remember your first motorcycle? I remember mine was a used motorcycle, a Honda 750 four. I bought it used in 1972 for $700.00. I think it had something like 2500 miles on it when I bought it. For what it was it was a great motorcycle.

The Next bike I purchased was a Norton 750 Commando. Now this was a fast bike for its day.

It only had 600 miles on it, it was about 60hp @ 7000rpm and would top out at just around 120 to 125 mph. It had a four-speed transmission, I can still remember red lining it and thinking how much faster it could have gone if it only had one more gear.

I guess back in those days I was into used . Well it was not that I was so much into them as it was all that bike complex didn’t last forever though and in 1975 I joined the United States Army and the next year I bought a brand new Harley Davidson Sportster 1000cc bicentennial addition. Although it was one of those AMF Harley Davidsons, it was a sweet little motorcycle. I purchased it while I was in over seas and I road my Sportster all over Europe. I road my sportsterfor well over ten years after that, in 1987 I had to give it a decent burial because I had a crash. Alas, my 1976 AMF bicentennial Sportster was totaled

I have bought quite a few motorcycles over the years. I have owned just about

every kind of motorbike you can perceive. I had a Harley Fat Boy for a while, I owned a KZ LTD. 1000cc, and I’ve also had a Yamaha 250 Enduro and a 1975 Bultaco Alpina 250cc for off roading.

Those where all good times and great motorcycle but time marches on, I have grown up and although my taste in motorcycles hasn’t changed very much I do prefer a more comfortable motorcycle these days. I ride a Honda 2005 1300 VTX at present.

Even though to some, riding a motorcycle that isn’t made in the USA might be considered un-cool or traitorous. To

them I say, GET OVER IT! Long gone are the days of my, it’s got to be a Harley or nothing at all. I am not saying that I wouldn’t own or ride a Harley

they are great motorcycles. I’m just saying, it doesn’t matter what the bike is, what matters is that I can ride.

I must confess my Honda has a nice comfortable ride, it is very smooth on long rides and it has all of the power I need.

My Honda is getting old, it is a 2005 and it’s getting a few miles on it. I am thinking about getting rid of it and getting something different. I haven’t decided yet what kind of motorcycle I want. I am thinking that I might not buy a new scooter this time. Oh well I am not in any great hurry but I just might start looking for inquiring about a used motorcycle for sale.

Delight Your Sweetheart With A Valentine’s Day Ecard

Written by author on Sunday, February 8th, 2009 in Other.

Valentine’s Day is the one day of the year for you to let your heart take control of your head and do something impetuous! Make your lover feel special and celebrate the most powerful emotion on earth, love. Valentine’s Day provides a magnificent opportunity to express your affection for that special person in your life. Whether you want to re-kindle the romantic flame with your spouse or surprise your fiance or someone you’re courting, you can send your message of love easily and at low cost via e-mail using ecards. Of course, Valentine’s E-cards aren’t meant to replace gifts, chocolates or the usual candlelight dinner, but they can be sent as a teaser for what lies ahead on this most romantic day of the year.

A bit of History

There are many theories as to the origin of Valentine’s Day. Some Historians have theorised that the celebration comes from various historical figures, but the consensus is that the occasion arises from St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to denounce Christianity. He died on February 14, 269 A.D which has become our current day of love. Legend also says that St. Valentine left a adiue note for the jailer’s daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it “From Your Valentine”. Gradually, February 14 became the date for exchanging love messages and St. Valentine became the patron saint of lovers. The date was marked by the sending of poems and simple gifts such as flowers. There was often a social gathering or a dance.

In the United States, Miss Esther Howland is given credit for sending the first valentine cards. Commercial printed valentines cards were introduced in the 1800’s. The essence of love and romance continues today as valentines cards are sent out with sentimental verses and children exchange valentine cards at school. In recent years the rise of the Ecard has seen the birth of a new way of sending a romantic message to your partner, and it has become one of the busiest days of the year for Ecard websites.
