The beginning days of the teardrop camper

Teardrop campers were once small camper trailers with minimal necessities for a short vacation. These trailers were first designed in the 1930s by Louis Rogers to use for his honeymoon. The simple camper caught on quickly because they were easy to pull, even with a small vehicle. Over time there has been many changes to the design of teardrop camping trailers although the streamlined exterior look is still the same. These days new teardrop campers are made using improved processes and materials. The original purpose of the teardrop camper as to allow two people to sleep inside. The camper has a raise up deck lid on the outside which is used for the stove, food, kitchen supplies and icebox.
 
There was also a private dressing area just outside the entry door. Over the years the kitchenette was improved with a pressured water tank that gave running water. A dressing area was added to the inside compartment as well as a small storage closet and chemical toilet. The biggest change that has been made to the teardrop camper was using fiberglass for the exterior shell rather than metal. There are several different styles of teardrop campers these days.
 
There is even a rugged new model which has been developed for off road use. Teardrop campers are available in many sizes these days. You will also have many different options when it comes to the design of your sleeping space and kitchenette. The newest models of teardrop camper will have easier to use entry doors and screens on the sliding windows which give you getter ventilation.
 
Some of the more luxurious models will also have fancy stereo systems, lighting for working in the kitchenette, and a stove cover that locks down. There are even some teardrop campers which feature an eating table in the kitchen and bunk beds.
